Edwin “Jonsie” Meyer, our beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, left his earthly body and joined his wife and other family members on September 9, 2019. He was born November 13, 1921 in Medina, North Dakota to John and Anna Meyer. He was the first child to bless their union and was later followed by 14 siblings.
Edwin moved to Idaho with his family where he met and married his soul mate, Bonnie Faith Miller, on December 1, 1944. Together they had five children.
Edwin worked for Roger Brothers in Twin Falls for over 25 years. He was a man of all trades. He loved to garden so his family could enjoy the beauty of flowers and the taste of fresh veggies. He farmed and built his family a home where he lived until his death.
Edwin enjoyed fishing, camping, vacationing, ice skating, swimming in the canal, gardening, and taking the kids and grandkids to sell cans and feast at McDonald’s.
Edwin was a teacher and had a fun and loving way about him. A man of few words, his actions never left you wondering if you were loved. Strong and fierce, yet gentle and protective. A true beacon of light to his family. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he held the Melchizedek Priesthood.
Edwin is survived by his five children, William Meyer; Shauna (James) Taylor; Tammy (Clint) McEntarfer; Rosa Strange; and Georgene (Josh) Closs; grandchildren: Nikki, Jessica (Conway), Joshua (Kia), Joseph (Georgia), Eric (Sierra), Dallas (Cheyanne), Ashton, Faith Ann, and Kiera; and was blessed with 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by four siblings, Johnny (Wanda) Meyer; Virginia Williams; Francis Jones; and Anna Marie (Snooks) Christiansen; his Pinnocle adversaries, Irene Herbst and Louise Miller; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his always “Pretty and Good” wife of 74 years, Bonnie Faith Meyer; 10 siblings; and numerous extended family members, all of whom, we are sure, greeted him at the gate.
