Marlene Orr

November 29, 1944 — March 22, 2022

JEROME

Marlene Orr, 77, of Jerome departed peacefully from this life on March 22, 2022 into the welcoming arms of her husband, Jim, to share eternity. After sudden complications from extended medical issues, Marlene bravely endured her remaining days surrounded by her loving family. She lingered only to say farewell to each one. Marlene courageously confessed that she had “lived a good life.”

Marlene was born November 29, 1944 to Vernon and Ethel Davids in Sibley, Iowa. She grew up with one brother, Johnny. The family was often on the move, never long in one place, as her father was in the military.

Eventually, Marlene moved to California where she met and married her love, Jim Orr, Sr. on February 3, 1964. Shortly thereafter, they started a family with Jim Jr. “Jimmy” and Wendy. They settled for a time in Spring Valley, California. In 1983, the family made the decision to relocate to Idaho where other family resided.

Marlene added to the family income working as a grocery clerk. She worked at local grocery stores such as Safeway, Ridley’s, and Wal-Mart. She worked with dedicated efficiency, giving great customer service and a welcome smile.

The family enjoyed outings in the desert riding 3-wheelers. Marlene also enjoyed working in the yard. She excelled in the kitchen. Any given holiday would find Marlene cooking up a hearty meal for the gathered family. Nothing meant more to Marlene and Jim than time spent together as a family.

Marlene is survived by her children, Jim Orr, Jr. (Amy) of Boise, and Wendy Orr of Jerome; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Johnny; infant son, Danny; and her husband, Jim Orr, Sr.

Marlene will be best remembered for her fiery spirit, quick wit, and dry sense of humor. After all, she named her cat “Ralph” after her father-in-law!

A private family service for Marlene will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family would gratefully accept memorial donations.

Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on Marlene’s memorial webpage at www.farnsworthmortuary.com.
