Martha Joan Obray Martin passed away on June 29, 2020 in Jerome, ID. Martha was born to Moses Ralph Obray and Oriole Ellen England in Pocatello, ID on April 7, 1937. She graduated from Pocatello High School in 1955. Martha married Jerry Ennis Martin at Idaho Falls Temple in Idaho Falls, ID on July 29, 1954. Martha was an ASL interpreter for many years and a supporter of the deaf community. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Martha and her husband served a LDS mission for the deaf in the North Washington DC area in 1991-92. She also served as an ASL interpreter coordinator at Twin Falls Temple.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Moses Obray and Oriole Lowe, step parents James Lowe and Blanche Obray, a brother Kay Obray and a sister Patricia Burton.
Survived by her husband, Jerry of Jerome, ID, three children: Richard L. (Cindy Terry) Martin of Olathe, KS, Kenneth L. (Doris Wilding) Martin of Jerome, ID and Sheri E. Martin of Orem, UT. Three brothers: Larry Obray of Riverside, CA, Jack Obray of Mackey, ID and Thomas Obray of Pocatello, ID. Three grandsons: Griffin, Chadwick and Javan. One step grandson: William. Four granddaughters: Rosemary, Johanna, Katrina and Castalia. One step granddaughter: Katherine. Four great grandchildren: Antonio, Alysia, Camden, Casen and a girl on the way due in December.
No funeral service due to coronavirus. However a memorial service/celebration will possibly be held in the summer of 2021.
