Robert "Bob" Nora

June 16, 1947 — October 23, 2021

RICHFIELD

Robert Charles Nora Jr. was born to Robert Charles Nora Sr. and Mosell Cox Nora in Omaha, Nebraska. His daughter, Gabrielle Nora, is Bob's sole survivor. The Noras moved to Twin Falls when Bob was eight years old. He attended St. Edwards School and later Twin Falls High School where he earned many awards. He graduated in 1965.

Bob moved to California to study music at Los Angeles City College and Immaculate Heart Conservatory. He played his music in L.A. and Hawaii for 20 years before returning to his home base in Twin Falls.

Bob Nora's love affair with music began as a child when he started plunking out tunes on a piano. Music determined the direction of Bob's life. Bob specialized in saxophone, flute, piano, and vocals. All he ever wanted to do was play music. Bob loved to travel the country. His repertoire ranged from rock to R&B, country and western to pop to Big Band. His goal was to keep getting better and better. Bob spent seven of twenty years in Hawaii, where he performed with Don Ho. His daughter, Gabrielle, continued to live there with her mother, from whom Bob was divorced.

Later in his life, he and Cheri Chandler, who played piano and sang vocals, moved to Bull Head City, Arizona, where they continued to play. Bob moved back to Idaho in 2012, where he lived in Dietrich and again played in Lincoln County and the Twin Falls area Mackay, Fairfield, Mountain Home, and Ely, Nevada. Sadly, when the pandemic hit, he only played at home. Those of us who had the opportunity to hear him play were blessed.

Bob's left arm began aching in October of 2020. He later learned that he had cancer. He fought hard and never complained. He took his music to the hospital for his treatments. He lovingly played the Kalimba in the waiting room for the doctors. Bob was music!

Bob died on October 23, 2021. There will be a memorial jam session to Celebrate his Life from 6:30 pm until 9:30 pm, on his 75th birthday, June 16, 2022 at the Shoshone City Park, Shoshone, Idaho. If you play an instrument or not, please come and join us.
