Robert "Bob" Robinson

Robert Darrell “Bob” Robinson, 83 of Jerome, peacefully passed away Friday, September 18, 2020 at home, surrounded by family.

Bob was born on Nov. 6, 1936 in Eden, Idaho to Joseph William and Ella Marie (Silcock) Robinson.  Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Jerome, where he attended school from 1st grade through graduation in 1954.

He was a lifelong active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which is how he met his sweetheart of nearly 64 years, Meralyn Hansen Robinson.  They were married and sealed in the Logan Temple October 22, 1956.  They resided in the Magic Valley Area where they raised their five children.

Bob was a hard worker and taught his family the value of hard work where the majority of his life was spent in the grocery business, owning and operating Bob’s Sawtooth Market and Bob’s IGA in Jerome. Later he owned Eden Cold Storage (custom meat cutting shop) in Eden, Idaho.  He retired from the US Postal Service as a rural carrier in 2004.

He and Meralyn served a mission for the church in Perth, Australia from Nov. 2004 to May 2006. He has served in many capacities in the church as well as helping his family learn the importance of the Savior and his principles in their lives. Many of his former ward members fondly remember his diligent calls wishing them a happy birthday and the Smarties that he would hand out after Primary.

Bob will be missed by his family and many friends, namely, his wife Meralyn; children, Ken and Elaine (Buttars) Robinson, Wally and Julee (Durham) Robinson, Lonnie Robinson, Doug and Monique Robinson, and Jillea and Andrew Young; along with 19 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren; brother Junior Robinson; and sister, Valnetta Cain.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe and George; along with sisters, Bertha, Nina and Berniece; and son-in-law, Nathan Neiwert.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 S Lincoln Ave, Jerome. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, September 25, 2020 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jerome 2nd Ward, 100 S 50 E, Jerome, with Bishop Jeff Stoker conducting. Graveside dedication will conclude at the Jerome Cemetery.
