Anthony Ray Sabala

April 26, 1946 — December 15, 2025

JEROME

Tony was born April 26, 1946, in Wendell, Idaho. He was the son of Tony Sr. and Marcella Sabala, and he was raised and educated in Jerome. On August 20, 1966, Tony married Judy Moore, and they have lived in Jerome ever since!

Tony was a hard worker and always gave 100% of himself to everything he did. He was a perfectionist, honest, and his word was his bond!

In 1970, they welcomed their first and only child, a son, Brian. Tony was so excited to have a son, and he was the light of his life! They hunted, fished, camped, rode motorcycles, and did archery together.

Tony worked for Gifford and Driesel Construction. He loved the brickwork and dreamed of being able to own a brick home, which he finally did. He also worked for Hancock Honey, as he had a real love for the bees. He always said how smart they were, and this world couldn’t survive without them. In May of 1968, he had an opportunity to get on with the Post Office – a job he held for 40 years – working his way up to Post Master. (April 3rd of 1982)

Tony also served 12 years in the Army National Guard as a cook. That gave him a love of cooking, which he used on our camping trips, Thanksgiving, and Christmas at our home. He loved those get-togethers!

Just when he thought he couldn’t be happier, Tony became a Grandpa and all of a sudden, nothing else mattered! Colton was the first, coming in July of ’94, and then Kodie in April of ’98. 11 years later, in November of 2009, Emily was born. They learned caring, kindness, love, honesty, and trust from him. They always loved their visits and knew they were welcome anytime. Tony never tired of them and could just sit and watch them play, and also played with them. They were such a blessing. He shared their joys and their pains. When something hurt them, Tony could hardly stand it. Family was very important to Tony, and his grandchildren always had a special place in his heart. He always had a way to make his nieces and nephews feel special, too.

He will be greatly missed by family and friends. His unconditional love, understanding, and help will be missed by his family. He taught us all high standards, honesty, and great love.
