Ardith Mae Berney, 93, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, with her daughters Janet, Linda, and Lori, and son-in-law Steve, by her side. She is leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and devotion to her family and friends.
Ardith was born on May 25, 1933, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Benjamin John Hampton and Winnie Dell Lee Hampton. She was the seventh of eight children born to Ben and Winnie and grew up surrounded by the love of her three brothers and four sisters. She graduated from Twin Falls High School on May 17, 1951.
On March 30, 1952, Ardith married Virgil A. Berney in Twin Falls. Together they raised five children—Janet, Brenda, Scot, Linda, and Lori. Although their marriage ended in divorce in 1981, Ardith remained deeply committed to her family throughout her life.
A hardworking and determined woman, Ardith owned and operated M's Snack Bar in the Lynwood Shopping Center during the 1970s and later owned and operated the Moon Bar in Filer in the late 1980s. She also worked at the Texaco station in Filer and at the Curry County Store, where she was known for her friendly smile and strong work ethic.
Ardith was baptized on March 29, 1964, at First Methodist Church in Twin Falls. She enjoyed being active in the TOPS weight-loss program and the Bowladrome bowling league. Some of her greatest pleasures were bowling, dancing, listening to country music, and spending time with family and friends. She had a warm heart, a generous spirit, and a gift for making others feel welcome.
Ardith was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin John Hampton and Winnie Dell Lee Hampton; each of her wonderful brothers and sisters; and her beloved son, Scot.
She leaves behind her loving daughters, Janet (Lonnie) Johnston, Brenda (Bob) Greer, Linda (Steve) Upton, and Lori Wayment; 16 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; extended family; and many dear friends, all of whom will miss her deeply and cherish the memories they shared with her.
Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, August 14, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Cemetery, 2296 Kimberly Rd, Twin Falls. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life at the home of Steve and Linda Upton in Twin Falls.
Ardith will be remembered for her strength, kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering love for her family. Her life was one of perseverance, generosity, and joy, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
