Arlo G. Lott

March 4, 1943 — February 7, 2024

JEROME

Arlo G. Lott, 80, passed away in the comfort of home surrounded by family on February 7, 2024. He will be remembered as a family man, a local businessman, a loved employer, a mentor, and a regular at the local coffee shops solving the world’s problems with friends. Many business deals were made with napkin and pen.  He was known wherever he went.  He was a friend to all. To know him was to love him.

He was the son of David Alonzo “Lon” Lott and Agnes Ruby Anderson born the 4th of March 1943 at Mrs. Hall’s Maternity Home in Rigby, Idaho, the 11th of 12 children. He spent his early days in Mud Lake, Idaho where he was raised on a farm.  He acquired his social security number at the early age of 5, allowing him to be employed by his oldest brother to steer the tractor.  From the tractor he graduated to trucks which would lead to his love of semis.

Many years later while in Arco, Idaho, a dream would become a reality with the purchase of his 1st truck and what would be the beginning of Arlo G. Lott Trucking. Twenty years and 45 trucks later he made the move to the interstate bringing him to his present home in Jerome, Idaho.During the following years the company continued to grow as it passed ownership on to his two oldest children. It is with deep pride he has watched his older grandsons now returning to carry on the legacy. In 2021, Arlo G. Lott Trucking celebrated its 50-year Anniversary.

Arlo had gone full circle.  He returned to his beginnings and found the love of farming again.   His enjoyment of operating machinery, appreciating the beauty of the land while working with his grandson on the 101 Ranch in King Hill, Idaho made his life complete.  As he would say, “It doesn’t get any better than this.”

He leaves behind Kathi, his wife of 64 years; four children he loved dearly, Andrew (Annette), Michelle (Mike), Eric (Kami), and Spencer (Jena); brothers, Elden, Ralph, and Ben; and sister, Helen. He was extremely proud of his 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Arlo G Lott, JR; his daughter-in-law, Jena; his parents; and siblings. Delbert, Ruby, Phil, LaMon, DeMar, Milton and Seth.
