Betty Arline Rice, our beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on June 29, 2025, in Twin Falls, ID, at the age of 88.
Betty was born on May 25, 1937, in Eden, Idaho, to John and Janie Wright. She loved to tell the story of how she was born in a tent on a stormy night. Betty was raised in Eden, Twin Falls, and Wendell with her two brothers, Lewis and Orvel. It was in Wendell that Betty met her beloved husband, Bob.
Bob and Betty were blessed with four children; Vickie, Sandra, Bill, and Jerry. They raised their family in Wendell, Twin Falls, and Murtaugh, where they owned the town service station. They loved to take their kids on adventures. Bob would hook the truck and camper up and off they would go, with four little kids peering out the front window of the camper. Bob and Betty spent many years as camp hosts at Three Island Crossing State Park. After Bob's passing, Betty continued to spend many more summers as camp host.
Betty spent many years working at the Kellwood Hosiery Company. She then returned to school and graduated from College of Southern Idaho with her nursing degree in 1982. She began working as an LPN at the Twin Falls Clinic and Hospital and retired from St. Luke's Magic Valley hospital. She was fondly known as "Bee" and was highly regarded as a nurse. Her work ethic and dedication to her roles were evident to all who worked alongside her.
Betty's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She loved the Lord and shared the Gospel with all who would hear her. She was a devoted member of the Hagerman Christian Center for many years. She lived her beliefs through constant acts of volunteerism, including many years for Relay for Life. Betty was honored by St. Luke's hospital for the countless hours she volunteered there after her retirement.
Her love for travel and exploration was a testament to her adventurous spirit and zest for life. Betty loved square dancing and enjoyed attending Old Time Fiddlers events and would sing for everyone around her to enjoy.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her sons, Bill and Jerry; son-in-law Mike Franklin; eleven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, John and Janie; brothers, Orvel and Lewis; her husband, Bob; daughters, Vickie and Sandra; her daughter in law Verla; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.
Betty dedicated her life to her family, her faith, and her community, and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
