Charles Patrick Thomas

JEROME

Charles Patrick Thomas, 76, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026 with his wife by his side. He was a loving husband, devoted father, avid fisherman and friend to many. Charles was born on March 25, 1950 to Dale and Arcie Thomas. He graduated from Jerome High School in 1969.

Charles worked for Rost Construction for 38 years. Over the course of his career, he and Russel Rost not only became close friends, but they would also construct many of the pivots that remain in and around the Magic Valley.

When he wasn’t working, Charles was enjoying his true passion for the outdoors. His love for fishing was something he shared with many friends and family members from Magic Reservoir to Alaska and all of his secret spots in between that only his dog Luna knows about and is sworn to secrecy. He also loved to hunt and spent many days hunting in the duck blinds that he built on the Riddle’s property. Some of his greatest memories were of taking his sons and grandsons down to hunt ducks. Charles also loved to play golf and had a weekly tee time with his good friends Terry Hall, Cliff Hinton and Chris Freeman. During the winter months he and Glenn Sommerset would make the trip to Mesquite for a week in the sun.

Charles and Julie were married 44 years. Together they bought and rebuilt their 1916 home in Jerome where Charles did the majority of construction and Julie became self-taught and proficient in the art of removing wall paper made from soup labels. Charles was proud of his home and yard which could be felt by anyone who drove by early enough on Tuesday mornings to catch him out irrigating. The neighbors never stood a chance at beating him.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Thomas; children: Ben (Kari) Thomas, Dan (Heidi) Thomas, Sam (Emily) Thomas and Jill Thomas; as well as his grandchildren; Zachary, Rachel, Abbey, Tyler, Shanna, Max, Wyatt, and Tenley; and great grandchild, Blakely.

A Celebration of Charles’ Life will be held from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Saturday, August 8, 2026, at El Sombrero Banquet Hall, 143 W Main St., Jerome.
