Cleo Mae Slagel

April 9, 1931 — June 27, 2025

TWIN FALLS

Cleo Mae Slagel, 94, of Gooding, Idaho, was safely gathered on June 27, 2025, in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Born on April 9, 1931, to Miloe Starr and Sybil Umphenour, Cleo lived a life rooted in grace, humility, and unwavering devotion to God. Her deep Christian faith shaped every part of her life.

She grew up on multiple farms across Gooding with her siblings, where she worked inside the home, helping with cooking and cleaning. After graduating from high school, she attended college at Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Missouri.

Cleo was married to the love of her life, Robert D. Slagel, with whom she shared a strong and loving marriage until his passing. They had two daughters and a son with whom they built a home filled with warmth, faith, and family together.

Those who knew Cleo will remember her for her generous spirit, her compassionate heart, and her quiet strength. She prayed daily for her loved ones by name. She celebrated victories and shared sorrows. She was the matriarch of the family and held the role admirably. She was a fabulous person - strong, brave, kind, and deeply loyal.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert D. Slagel and is now reunited with him in eternal peace. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Starr and Sybil Umphenour; her seven siblings; son, Robin D. Slagel; and many other loved ones.

Cleo is survived by Teresa M. O’Donley and her children: Eric O’Donley and his son Viktore O’Donley, Destiny Prock and her husband Karston Prock and their daughters, Kahira and Valkyrie. She is also survived by her son Robin Slagel’s daughters: Tausha Catlett and Tausha’s husband Casey Catlett, and their sons Mason and Carter, and Brandee Robinett and Brandee’s husband Ryan Robinett and son Zachary Slagel; and her youngest daughter, Rhonda Renee Slagel Sao, and her husband Savouen Sao.

Her life was a reflection of God’s grace, and we take comfort in knowing she is now in His eternal care, reunited with loved ones who went before her. We will carry her love and example with us always.
