Dale Rollo Metzger

November 3, 1948 — December 15, 2023

TWIN FALLS

Pastor Dale Rollo Metzger, 75, of Twin Falls, was born November 3, 1948 in Medford, Oregon, to parents Bruce and June Metzger. He died December 15, 2023, at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Hospital.

Despite being diagnosed with asthma at a very early age, he always kept busy raising chickens, having a paper route, and working in city parks in his youth. Following high school graduation, he attended Treasure Valley Community College and then graduated from Boise State University. He worked in radio broadcasting and various public relations jobs, all using his communications degree and natural ability to relate to others.

He and Susan Heitz were married in Twin Falls in 1972. They had two daughters, Karen and Kim. They later divorced.

He eventually followed his call to the ministry of the Gospel, attending Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, and served churches in the Boise area and Magic Valley. Over the years, he presided at many weddings and funerals, and gave comfort to those in need, especially while serving as a hospital chaplain at Magic Valley Regional Medical Center. At the time of his death, he was Associate Pastor at Jerome Presbyterian Church.

He married Helen Iverson December 28, 1990. They enjoyed travel, including cruises to Europe, Asia, and South America.

He belonged to the Twin Falls Lions Club; one of his favorite activities was participating in the annual Trivia Contest, raising funds to support the mission of the club. He frequently emceed various banquets and other functions. He loved broadcasting and sports. Though his health didn’t allow him to participate in sports, he did the play-by-play for radio broadcasts of football and basketball games for the Twin Falls Bruins and Jerome Tigers. He also served on the boards of several non-profits, including Bills’ Place and the Idaho Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation. Dale was very generous with his time and talents, always ready to help anyone needing assistance.

He was preceded in death by his father, and numerous aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; his daughters, Karen and Kim of Boise; his granddaughter, Kori, of Boise; his mother, June, of Silverton, Oregon; his sister, Ronda (John) Rieder of Silverton, Oregon; Uncle Donald Mullin of Medford; Aunt Betty Stammen of Phoenix, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family suggests memorial donations to Jerome Presbyterian Church, or the Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation, 1090 N. Cole Rd., Boise, ID.
