Dale Howard Sluder

Dale Howard Sluder, a beloved community member and dedicated family man, passed away on November 27, 2025, in Shoshone, Idaho. Born on January 7, 1947, in Gooding, Idaho, Dale was raised in the Methodist Church, where he developed a strong sense of community and service that would guide him throughout his life.

Dale graduated from Richfield High School and embarked on a remarkable career. He spent 13 years working for Union Pacific Railroad, which allowed him to cultivate his passion for trains. Following this, Dale became the owner of Central Idaho Construction, a position he held for over 30 years. His career continued to flourish with ten years at the Three Creek Highway District. Throughout his professional journey, Dale was known not only for his hard work and dedication but also for his ability to positively impact those around him.

Dale married Sandy Lou Bailey on December 17, 2017 in Shoshone, Idaho.

One of his proudest accomplishments was serving on the City Council for Shoshone for over 40 years, a testament to his commitment to his community and the values of public service. Dale was always willing to lend a hand or provide guidance, embodying the spirit of a true public servant.

In addition to his professional achievements, Dale found joy in hobbies that showcased his love for machinery and nature. He had a keen interest in train watching and a deep appreciation for heavy equipment, pursuits that often brought him joy and connection with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Sluder; brothers, Duke Sluder and Gib Sluder; children, John Trammel, Shari Panter, and Tina Barrett; stepchildren, Penny Olmstead, Melody Leseburg, Eric Box, and Preston Box; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews who carry forward his legacy of kindness and service. Dale was preceded in death by his father, Charles T. Sluder; mother, Gonda Ovada Riley Sluder; brothers, Ronald Sluder and Doug Sluder; and nephew, Thomas Sluder.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, with a viewing beginning at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 6, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Shoshone, Idaho. Grave dedication will conclude at the Richfield Cemetery, Richfield, Idaho.

Dale definitely had the "gift of gab" and will be missed not only for his contributions to his work and community but also for the warmth and love he brought into the lives of all who knew him. His spirit will continue to inspire those who carry his memory in their hearts.
