Daniel Burash

Daniel George Burash, 87, of Jerome passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. Dan was born March 12, 1930 to Andrew Buras and Elizabeth Hrabek. He was the youngest of 5 siblings.

Dan attended St. Steven’s Catholic School for 8 years after which he attended high school in Streator, IL. He began working for Thatcher Glass at the age of 17. Dan was proud to serve our country as a paratrooper in the Army at age 18. He married Nila Irene Lloyd in 1952 and together they raised four daughters, Linda, Diane, Debra and Dawn.

In 1964, the family moved to Saugus, CA where Dan continued working for Thatcher Glass. He loved sports and began his 35-year career of umpiring and refereeing. He loved the outdoors and loved boating, camping and fishing.

Dan served as a senior LDS missionary in New Mexico and worked in the temple for 16 years. He was fun loving, happy go lucky, and always had a smile. No matter where he was he found someone he knew.  He loved to talk and always entertained family and friends with stories. Some would even say he was quite the character!

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and daughter, Debra Burash.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Nila Irene Burash; and 3 daughters, Linda Hays, Diane (Fred) Lawrence, and Dawn (Kevin) Higley. He leaves a legacy of 16 grandchildren, 34 great-children and 2 great-great-granddaughters.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Sunday May 21, 2017 at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 S Lincoln Ave, Jerome. A Celebration of Dan's Life will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, May 22, 2017, at the Jerome LDS Church, 7th Ward, 100 S. 50 E., Jerome, with additional viewing beginning at 10:00 am. Graveside services with Military Honors will conclude at the Jerome Cemetery.
