Jerome- David John Burnham was born to Lynn W. Burnham and Ruth Ostler Burnham on May 15, 1937 in his grandmother’s house in Jerome, Idaho. He was the third son in a family of seven boys and one girl. He courted and later married his sweetheart Jennie Ann Dick on September 15, 1959 in the Logan Temple. He never stopped courting her for 56 years. They had three children together, two sons and a daughter.
David and his brothers grew up with the reputation of being hard workers, and they did farm work for their dad and neighbors. In the course of his life, David worked hard at several different jobs. He drove a milk truck for his brother Keenan. He worked at North Side Body Shop with his brother Perry for several years. He also farmed off and on throughout his life. David drove bus for various school and sporting events for a number of years. More recently, he found enjoyment and a special love driving bus for the deaf and blind children at ISBD.
David was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding many positions in the church. He raised his family on principles of righteousness, faith in God, hard work, respect, and love. He taught his sons everything he knew and was a dedicated family man. Throughout his life, he could often be found working side by side with his beloved wife.
David always enjoyed the outdoors, camping and hunting with his family. He was the toughest, strongest, hardest working man, yet he could be the most tender, gentle, kind person. He was the best example of what a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend should be. He was a great success in his life and will be missed beyond words.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Arthur W. Dick and Zola Dick. David is survived by his wife Jennie Ann, his siblings Keenan (LaVisa), Leslie, Bob (Lorna), Gary (Jane), Perry (Rita), LaRene (Roger) Morley, his son Wade (Isbelia), his daughter Christine (Joel) Clarkson, his son Todd (Diane), fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren on the way. He is also survived by several others who call him Dad and Grandpa.
David John Burnham will be remembered as a great man. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and family on May 20, 2016.
