Debra Lynn Welch Taylor

July 23, 1957 — October 18, 2023

JEROME

Debra Lynn Welch Taylor was born July 23, 1957 to Dale and Sharon Welch. She passed away October 18, 2023 in Jerome, Idaho. She was the oldest of five children.

Debbie had a humble childhood, growing up in a small 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom house. Family vacations were going to the South Hills and up North to hunt and gather wood as well as boating and fishing at Magic Reservoir. She enjoyed being outdoors and riding the family appaloosa horse, Paloos, and quarter horse, Lady. She also loved their black lab named Rebel.

Debbie met Harvey Taylor while in high school and loved attending his wrestling meets. They were married September of 1975 in Jerome, Idaho. Their daughter, Tricia, was born in 1977. As a young family they enjoyed going on camping and rafting trips together. They also helped Dale and Sharon build their family home in the country, helped them haul hay, and canned vegetables from the family garden. She worked at various jobs over the years including cleaning houses and at Moss Greenhouses. Her favorite pets as an adult were her cats, Smokey and PJ.

Debbie liked to travel. Some of her favorite trips included a float trip with Harvey down Hell’s Canyon, a cruise to Mexico, visiting Mike and Heather in St. George, and going on a girls trip with her mother, sisters and daughter to Yellowstone. She loved to shop with Tricia and make jewelry with Terry.

She also enjoyed having a lot of house plants as well as growing flowers and vegetables in her garden. She was talented at arranging flowers and this talent helped her get a job at Ridleys in the floral department as well as the bakery. One of her favorite pastimes was to watch football with Harvey, especially their favorite teams, the Oakland Raiders and Boise State Broncos. They would often take trips to Boise to watch the Broncos play.

Debbie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was sealed to her parents in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 5, 1965.

Debbie was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; and mother, Sharon. She is survived by her daughter, Tricia (Steve); father, Dale; siblings, Curtis (Sheree’), Carol, Terry, and Mike (Heather); and grandchildren, William & Braxton.
