Don Emery

Jerome- Don H. Emery, 88, of Jerome, passed away Saturday August 13, 2016, in Boise, Idaho.  He was born February 1, 1928, in Oakley, Idaho, the fourth of five children born to Eugene Emery, Jr., and Guinevere Hunter Emery.  Don was raised in Oakley and graduated from Oakley High School.  His younger years were spent herding sheep at Beaver Dam and Goose Creek.  He met Betty Larae Anderson in Oakley, and they were married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on October 27, 1949.  They lived and ranched in Oakley, May and Albion then settled in Jerome in 1969, where they raised cattle, farmed and operated a small dairy for several years.  Don later went to work as a ditch rider for the Northside Canal Company.

He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many callings throughout the years.  In 1991, he lost his beloved wife, Betty, to cancer.  He later married Gala Dean.  After retiring, Don spent many hours in his woodshop creating novel cabinets and other items to be dispersed among family and friends.  The last several  months of his life were spent in Boise where he lived with his daughter, Anita, being spoiled and living a life of luxury.

Don is survived by his son, Dean (Joan) Emery of Jerome; two daughters, Lynette (James) Wood of Saratoga Springs, Utah, and Anita (Mike) Murnighan of Boise; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Clark of Albion and Verna (Jim) Page of Burley; and many extended family members and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, his grandson Kelly Emery; his brother Hilton Emery and his sister Merle Feriante.

A visitation will held Wednesday evening, August 17, 2016, at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 South Lincoln, Jerome, where family and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. , Thursday August 18, 2016,  in the Jerome LDS 5th Ward Chapel, 50 East 100 South, Jerome, with Bishop Jerry Callen, Jr., officiating.  A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow at approximately 3:00 p.m. , in the Oakley, Idaho cemetery.
