KIMBERLY

Dwight John Sandmark, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family in Kimberly, Idaho on October 15, 2025 at the age of 76 . Born on December 5, 1948, in Moline, Illinois, Dwight dedicated his life to family, community, and his various professional pursuits.

Dwight’s educational journey began with his graduation from Azusa High School in California in 1966. He was active in athletics while at Azusa High School. Dwight played on the Cee, Bee and Varsity Football teams and received the Senior Athlete Award from his classmates. He served as President of the Letterman’s Club, was the Senior Activities Chairman and was a member of the Sierra League championship baseball team. He briefly attended Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas, before returning to Azusa, where he continued his education at Citrus College. There he pursued a degree in Physical Education with aspirations of becoming a coach. His academic journey culminated at Mt. San Antonio College, in the San Gabriel Valley, where he graduated in June 1976.

Dwight was formerly married. Although this relationship ended in divorce, they did have two sons together, Scott & Brian. Dwight met the love of his life, Maria, in 1975 in Pomona, CA. They dated a few years before blending their families. They were married in Las Vegas, NV on March 18, 1979.

Dwight served in the United States Air Force from March 1970 until March 1976, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant, E-5, as an Electrical Specialist Technician. His noteworthy contributions to the military included being named Instructor of the Month in March 1973 in the Electrical branch of the Department of Civil Engineering Training at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas.

In 1976, Dwight received his Plastics Manufacturing certification through Cerritos College, which led to a successful career in the industry. In 1977, he purchased shares in Diversified Plastic Material Service, Inc. in Paramount, California, becoming an affiliated member and sales representative. However, it was during a trip to visit a friend in Idaho in 1981 that he fell in love with the area. The following year, he sold his shares and moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, where he enjoyed various sales roles with local paper distribution companies. He ultimately found fulfillment as the PR-Marketing representative at First American Title Company. His career expanded and he became the manager of the Gooding office for Twin Falls Title. Later, he worked as a reverse mortgage specialist for First Horizon Home Loans and MetLife. Even in retirement, Dwight remained active, working alongside his good friend at Don's Irrigation.

Dwight was not only committed to his professional life but also deeply passionate about his community. He was a member of many organizations including the Optimist Club, Kiwanis Club, and the Chamber of Commerce, earning recognition as Ambassador of the Quarter in the first quarter of 1998 with the Chamber of Commerce. His devotion to canine companions was exemplified through his membership with the Idaho Brittany Club, where he raised and bred Brittany Spaniels. He also owned several pedigreed dogs, Waco, ChoCho, and Jessie Girl.

A man of many interests, Dwight found joy in hunting, golfing, and even building golf clubs. He relished the thrill of trying new adventures, including bull riding and bungee jumping, and cherished traveling across the United States, playing numerous golf courses along the way. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his family and friends, making lasting memories that will be fondly remembered.

Dwight is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Maria Sandmark of Kimberly, Idaho; sons, Scott (Robin) Sandmark of Apple Valley, CA and Brian (Darlene) Sandmark of San Dimas, CA; daughters, Sylvia Busman of Kimberly, ID and Betty (Trent) Stimpson of Twin Falls, ID; and brother, Stan (Laura) Sandmark of Daytona Beach, FL. He was the proud grandfather of Tyler (Amy) Sandmark and Ryan (Tori) Sandmark, both of Tehachapi, CA; Tayler (Kaden) Ottersberg of Pocatello, ID; Alec Busman and Bryan Stimpson, both of Boise, ID; Jayden Stimpson of Logan, UT; and Ashley Sandmark and Breanna Sandmark, both of San Dimas, CA; and great-grandfather of Audrey and Emily Sandmark, Oaklee Ottersberg, and Connor and Grant Sandmark.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Richard J. Sandmark and Dorothy J. Potter Sandmark; brother, Steve Sandmark; and sister, Laurie Scano.

Dwight cherished his tee time with his golf buddies. He forged lasting friendships both on and off the golf course. The family appreciates all of his friends that came to see him and include him, even when it became difficult for him. The family also extends their heartfelt gratitude to Jennifer and the staff at Hospice Visions LLC for their compassionate care during this time.
