Our beautiful mother, Elizabeth Rodriguez, died peacefully at home on November 19, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 5, 1921 in a small town in southwest Texas.
She married David G. Rodriguez on Nov. 30, 1940 in Marathon, TX. The Rodriguez family moved from San Antonio, TX in the spring of 1953 to Wendell, ID, where David built a home for his family. They were married for 70 years, before he passed in 2010. Together they raised 8 children: David (Aida) Rodriguez, Mary Brown, Daniel (Patsy) Rodriguez, Samuel Rodriguez (killed in Vietnam, 1968), Irene (Gary) Lewis, Charlie (Deyanira) Rodriguez, Pascuo Rodriguez, and Rose (Robert) Maxim. She is also survived by her siblings Tito, Beto, Robert and Tony Calderon, and Ella Alvarez; 23 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Elizabeth's kitchen was always filled with the smell of homemade Mexican food, a place every one was always welcome.
Elizabeth enjoyed tending to her beautiful flowers, canning, reading, listening to western music, and attending church conventions. She was a member of the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 40 years, where she was active in the preaching work. She was a retired nurse, who played a vital role in the development of the Magic Valley Manor. She influenced many others in her profession in the Magic Valley, including her daughters, who followed in her footsteps attending to the needs of others, especially in caring for the elderly.
Elizabeth would have done anything for her family, and her memory will live fondly in the hearts of so many who loved her.
Funeral service will be held at 2:OO pm, Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 101 North Bliss Street, Wendell, Idaho. Burial will conclude at Wendell Cemetery.
