George "Buzz" Pitcher

The Pitcher Family said goodbye to our very own Pillar of Strength and a Man of an undeniable Love for his family, George Parley Pitcher, favorably known as “Buzz” peacefully rode his last ride on July 4, 2021.

Severe COPD has slowed Buzz down for many years, but while his body struggled his mind was sharp and his relentless fun loving teasing ways never missed a beat. Buzz  simply had an unexplainable connection as he just had a way with kids of all ages. They loved his jokes and kid at heart personality. He proudly wears the title of “Pappa Bullshit” by every one of his 17 grandkids and 22 great grandkids that adored and loved on him at every possible moment. The games, the teasing, the lessons, and the laughter will live on forever.

Born on May 2, 1943 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to George Parley and Clara Jennivie "Jen" Pitcher from Smithfield, Utah. Their fourth child, and the only son, he was spoiled immensely by Mom and Dad as well as his four sisters and loved every minute of it.

Buzz was a gifted horse whisperer. At two years old he climbed his way hand over hand up to his horse’s back. If he ever went missing, which was often, his Mom could find him out with the horses, typically on his horse Brownie’s back. His life revolved around the family, and his horses. Buzz and his horse were one in the same as his riding abilities were naturally like no other.

He was factually known for having nine lives and indeed used up every one. He was tough as nails and survived them all clear to the end.

Buzz’s personality is best described as a lovable person. He would be the first to show up in the time of need, willing and able to do whatever it was that anybody needed. He could strike up a conversation with any stranger and within minutes they quickly felt like lifelong friends.

Bigger than life in work and play. He enjoyed a hard day’s work, and often enjoyed getting into mischief afterwards. Oh the many many stories there are to tell. He was never one to sit around. His best of times were spent building something, planting and tending to the vegetable garden, playing with the animals, or playing around with the kids and horses.

As we remember the Buzz we all knew, we feel him and know he will continue to be in our lives. His body has left this earth but his presence will always remain.

Buzz is survived by his beautiful and devoted wife of 56 years, Sandra Kay; his three daughters, Joni Ann Pitcher, Lexi Lee Roth-Akridge(Rick), and Marni Kay Haynes (Terence); his two sons, Rocky George and Randy Klar (Brandy); many grandchildren and even more great grandchildren. Also, survived by his four sisters, Carroll Davis, Jackie Webster,  Marlene Machen (Floyd), and Vicki Plung (Daniel).

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Jennivie Pitcher; brothers-in-law, Art Davis and Lamoyne Webster.
