Harold Milton

Harold Eugene Milton

April 1, 1921- March 13, 2018

Born April 1, 1921 in Waterloo, Nebraska to Guy Ernest Milton and Calista Armstrong Milton.

Harold joined 5 siblings; brothers, Clair and Gale, and sisters, Edna, Inez and June, in a loving relationship that lasted their life time. Harold's father bought land in Wyoming and moved his family there when he was 18 months old. Eventually building a fine ranch where they grew winter wheat and a large herd of Hereford cattle.

When Harold was 9 years old he lost his left hand in a farm accident. The entire family had musical talent. Harold learned to play the harmonica at age 5 sitting on his dad's knee who taught him music. Harold attended a one room school house. He attended Guernsey high school. During his first year of high school he joined the school band and learned to play the Baritone horn. His dad bought Harold a new Baritone horn. After high school graduation he entered the band at the University of Wyoming.

While attending the university he rode a Harley Davidson motorcycle to and from his home ranch every weekend. Then WW II began, and he was able to become a civilian employee at Hill Air Force Base in Utah.

At the end of the War, he met up with his youngest sister June and her family in Idaho. While there he met Gerry Russell in February and the following May they were married. His son Larry was born a year later in Wheatland, Wyoming. When Larry was 6 weeks old Harold and Gerry moved back to Jerome, ID. While there he was hired by Mr. Gardener who taught him how to run paving equipment which became his life’s vocation.

While living in Greeley CO, Harold’s daughter Linda was born. He worked building roads and paving city streets from Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada, finally moving to Riverside, CA where he worked for E.L Yeaeger Construction Company for 32 years.

After retiring from work, Harold and Gerry enjoyed traveling around the western United States. Harold and Gerry moved back to Idaho in 1991. Then Harold joined the Odd-Fellows and Gerry joined the Rebekah's, each of them holding several positions. Eventually Harold was elected to become the Grand Musician for the Independent Order of Odd-Fellows for the state of Idaho.

Harold and Gerry celebrated 50 years of marriage with a trip to Hawaii as a gift from their son. That same year they drove their motor home to Alaska, meeting their son there for a brief fishing trip. Harold and Gerry celebrated their 71 ^{s t} anniversary May 28, 2017 with a few family and friends at Creekside Care Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and three sisters; and three nephews. Surviving Harold is his beloved wife, Gerry; son, Larry and his wife, Michelle; grandson, Shawn; daughter, Linda; granddaughters, Sarhah and Amy (Jeff); grandson, Chris; four great grandsons; one great granddaughter; and two great great granddaughters.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Jerome United Methodist Church, 211 S Buchanan St, Jerome.
