Iona Tranmer

Twin Falls- Iona May Tranmer, 91, of Twin Falls, passed away at her home on Sunday November 16, 2014.  She was born July 12, 1923, in Garfield, Utah, the daughter of Hyrum Alton Johnson and Lucy LaVerl Fox Johnson.  Iona was raised in Jerome and attended schools there. On May 5, 1948, she married Walter Jay "Wally" Tranmer, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.  They settled in Jerome where they raised seven children.  Iona was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a variety of callings.  She enjoyed keeping busy with sewing, crocheting and doll making.  Mostly she enjoyed being surrounded by her family and spending time with them.  Iona will be remembered as a kind and considerate person who always put others first.

Iona is survived by six children; Ron (Carolynn) Tranmer of Riverton, UT, Walter Tranmer, Jr. of Mesa, AZ, Arliss (Maria) Tranmer of Scottsdale, AZ, Janell (Ray) Tschannen of Wendell, Terry (Shirlene) Tranmer of Twin Falls and Gayle McDonald, also of Twin Falls and her daughter-in-law, Linda Tranmer.   She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren;  two sisters, Doris Barlow and Juanita Rigby; and one brother, Garn Johnson; and many extended family members and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wally, their son Douglass Tranmer;  three sisters, Twila Bingham, Caroline Giles and Janett Giles; and one brother, Mayben Johnson.

A visitation will be held Thursday evening, November 20, 2014 , in the Twin Falls LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, 2680 Elizabeth Blvd., Twin Falls, where family and friends may call from 6-8 PM .  Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday November 21, 2014 , also at the Twin Falls LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, with Bishop Richard Crowley officiating.  A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow in the Jerome Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.
