Twin Falls- Irene de Miranda Franco, 83, of Twin Falls, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday July 15, 2015. She was born in Camacho, Minas Gerais, Brazil, the daughter of Joao and Rosamira de Miranda. Irene was raised in Goias, Brazil and attended schools there. She enjoyed teaching children and adults to read and write. Irene married Joao Franco in 1951. He came to the United States in 1972, then returned to Brazil 18 months later and settled back in America with Irene in 1987. Their family joined them a few years later. Most of Irene's working years were spent as a homemaker. She loved raising turkeys, chickens, ducks, rabbits, goats and calves. Mostly, she loved being with her family and centered her life around her husband, children and grandchildren.
Irene is survived by five children; Lane (Fatima) Franco, of Twin Falls, Sylvanna (Antonio) Franco of Brasilia, Brazil, John Franco, of Jerome, Elizabeth DeSouza, of Twin Falls and Ramilton Franco, of Portland; her daughter-in-law, Celia Franco of Portland; five grandchildren; Ryan (Jamie) Franco and Marcus Franco of Twin Falls, Priscila De Macedo, Jonathan and Adrian Franco, of Portland; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, three brothers, and many extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 52 years, Joao Franco; their son, Airton Franco; one sister and three brothers. Irene is survived by two sisters and three brothers.
A visitation will be held Tuesday evening, July 21, 2015, at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 South Lincoln, where family and friends may call from 6-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Wednesday July 22, 2015, at St. Edward Catholic Church, 161 6th Avenue East, Twin Falls, Idaho, with a Vigil beginning at 10:00 AM. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 PM, in the Jerome Cemetery, 901 West Avenue I, Jerome.
