Jerry Kissinger

January 12, 1971 — July 6, 2022

JEROME

Jerry Kissinger was born to Ellis and Eva Kissinger on January 12, 1971, in Lebanon, Missouri.  He was the youngest and most rambunctious of four boys. He grew up in Port Orford and Salem, Oregon.  The family then moved back to Lebanon, Missouri for a few years then on to Springfield, Oregon where he met his first wife, Viva Beutler. They were married from 1991 till 2002, when they amicably divorced. They parted as friends and were good co-parents to their boys, Eric and Landon Kissinger.

Jerry came to a saving faith and was baptized while attending The First Free Will Baptist Church in Salem, Oregon, under the ministry of Pastor Jesse Dunn.  He would later rededicate his faith while attending the Jerome Free Will Baptist Church.

Though there were other jobs he worked over the years, Jerry’s work as a mechanic for a Honda dealership in Oregon was his career.  His gift was fixing broken things. He helped his brothers out so many times with their mechanical messes. Degenerative disc disease and several surgeries would end that career and put him on permanent disability.

Jerry and the boys moved to Jerome in 1997. They loved the fishing the area had to offer. Jerry was very proud of several 5-pound trout he caught out of the Snake River, straight south of Jerome. He was even more excited when he caught a 3-foot sturgeon out of Riley Creek down by Hagerman.

Jerry met the love of his life, Julie Ann Oneida, at Maverick in Jerome where she was working at the time.  It was love at first sight. They wed June 17, 2003 and were married 19 years.  Jerry became a step father to Travis that same day. They had an amazing relationship. They loved to play video games and watch TV together.

Landon and his twin sons moved to jerome this last year and Jerry entered a new phase of life as a grandpa.  His life had new meaning and purpose as he became more active in helping Landon with these two very lively boys! He enjoyed it very much. He lost weight and could be seen out doing yard work.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Eva Kissinger; and his grandparents, Fred and Bernice Kissinger and Lester and Edna Haight. He is survived by his wife, Julie Kissinger; sons, Landon Kissinger, Eric (Emilea) Kissinger and Travis Kissinger; grandsons, Auron and Talon; granddaughters, Rebecha and Bailey; brothers, Gene (Sandy) Kissinger, Norman (Sherry) Kissinger and Michael (Roberta) Kissinger; along with many nieces and nephews.
