Jim Sturgeon

May 16, 1935 — April 17, 2018

James "Jim" Willard Sturgeon, 82, of Jerome, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at a Twin Falls hospital.

Jim was born on a ditch bank in Shoshone, Idaho on May 16, 1935 to Raymond Newton Sturgeon and Anna Delpha Conner. The family moved to Nipomo, California where he was raised and graduated from Arroyo Grande High School.

While living in California he met the love of his life, Charlene Mae Van Atta. They married on May 23, 1958 and raised four children. In 1964 they moved to Idaho to be near family. After settling in, he began his trucking career which lasted 59 years. Jim spent his life in Idaho enjoying the outdoors, working on cars and being with family.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife; parents; siblings, Bertha Hamilton, Ervin and Mickey Sturgeon and June Mitchell; and great-grandson, Ruben Astorga.

He is survived by his children, Jimmy (Stacey), Richard (Shelley), Denise and Debbie; extended children, Toni, Jay, Sandra, Andrea, Shannon, Cathy, Tom and Ken; grandchildren, Jason, Erika, Jacob, Kelsey, Hayley, Heather, Mackenzie, Madison, Jeremy and Jenice; and many more loving great-grandchildren, family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, April 23, 2018, at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 S. Lincoln Ave., Jerome, Idaho with graveside service to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Gooding, Idaho.
