John Hoobery

February 3, 1932 — November 7, 2015

Twin Falls- John Ralph Hoobery, 83, of Twin Falls and formerly of Gooding, Idaho and Santa Maria, California, left us peacefully on Saturday November 7, 2015, of natural causes.

He was born February 3, 1932, in Arroll, Missouri, the son of Earl Oliver Hoobery and Anna Margaret House.  His family settled in Gooding, Idaho, where John attended local schools and met his beloved future wife, Alta Casey Porter.  They were married April 16, 1949, and moved to Santa Maria, California, where they raised three wonderful children; Judy Ann, James Casey and Patricia Marie.  John spent most of his working years with Douglas Conoco.  He enjoyed playing golf at the Santa Maria Country Club and was an active member of the Santa Maria Roping and Riding Club and the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #1538.  John was civic minded and generous and would do anything to improve the quality of living in his community.  He also loved the wonderful fresh fish from the Pacific Coast.  In 2003, John and Alta relocated back to Twin Falls, Idaho, to enjoy their retirement together and join their extended family.  He loved to play golf and was an active member of the Jerome Country Club and loved to play cards with the Senior Citizens group at the Turf Club.

John is survived by his children: Judy Ann (Richard) Chavis, of Santa Maria, California, James (Christine) Hoobery, of Shell Beach, California, and Patricia Marie of Twin Falls, Idaho.  He is also survived by four grandchildren; Christopher, Stephanie, Macgregor and Casey Don and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his sweetheart, Alta, and two brothers, Lester and Glenn Hoobery.

John's family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to St. Lukes MISTI, Twin Falls Office on Aging, Twin Falls Senior Citizens group and Meals on Wheels.

In accordance with John's wishes, private memorial services will be held in his honor.  He will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, Alta, in Santa Maria, California.

Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.
