Joseph “Joey” Kent Aslett was born on May 4, 1969, in Boise, Idaho. He was the oldest son of 14 children. His parents, Gary Aslett and Sherrie Whaley, raised them in the LDS faith.
In 1994, his son Richard was born, and Richy became his constant companion. Joey loved spending time with his family up at the family cabin in Stanley, Idaho. Joey loved camping, wood carving, and he loved to dance. Joey went to work for Kulm Ag Inc. in 2010 and worked for them seasonally until 2023. He was also a school bus driver at North Side Bus Company.
In May of 2020, he met Wendee Jo Sampson, and they became inseparable. Wendee and her two daughters, Dakota Garvin and Rylee Garvin, became part of Joey’s and Richy’s life. On December 8, 2023, the couple married. Their relationship was full of love and laughter, as well as heartache.
In 2021, Joey was diagnosed with urethral carcinoma, and he gave it the fight of a lifetime. Sadly, Joey lost his fight on the morning of February 6, 2024, with his wife, Wendee, and his sister, Becky by his side. Harrison's Hope Hospice took care of Joey during his last days along with his son, wife, and many family members.
Joey is survived by his parents, Gary and Sherrie; his 13 siblings and their families; his son, Richard; wife, Wendee; and stepdaughters, Dakota and Rylee.
Joey was a wonderful, caring man, and he will be greatly missed.
