Juan Garcia-Venegas

Jerome - Juan Garcia Venegas, 67, of Jerome, passed away on Saturday July 11, 2015 in Shoshone, Idaho.

He was born January 27, 1948 in Asuncion Ocotlan, Oaxaca, Mexico to  Concepcion Venegas and Petronilo Garcia.

After being raised in Mexico, Juan began working in the United States in his early 20's.

In November 1997, Juan moved his family from Mexico to Murtaugh, Idaho. Over the years he worked at Jerome Cheese Co. from 2005  to  2010 in the packaging department. Juan retired in 2011, but continued working seasonally at Driscoll Brothers and Chobani. Beginning in 2010 he purchased his first home in Jerome, Idaho where his wife of 39 years, Irene and he lived until his passing.

In his free time he enjoyed being outside tending to his animals and in the summer he spent all day in the garden. He loved napping in his lawn chair in the shade under a big tree. Juan always had a couple of chickens, goats, calves and a cat he named "Tigre". He was a peaceful man, content with the life he has lived, and loving the family he has countlessly said he was blessed with. He was a man of God who put all his worries and faith in the Lord. Juan always told his children to pray to keep them safe and in good health.

He is survived by his dearly beloved wife, Irene Garcia Hernandez and eight children; sons, Pedro Garcia Hernandez, Juan Sergio Garcia Hernandez; daughters Anatolia Romero, Maria Concepcion Stevenson, Reyna Eva Garcia; sons-in-law, Daniel Romero Gonzales and James Wesley Stevenson; daughter-in-law Carphorfora Zarate Garcia; grandchildren, Daniel Venegas, Diana Aguilar, Christopher Dariel Romero, Dylan Romero, Edgar Garcia and Sofia Hall Shaw; brother, Elias Garcia and sister, Martina Garcia and many nephews, nieces, cousins, compadres and many more family and friends. He has now been reunited with his Lord and Savior and his family members that departed the earth before him. His mother Concepcion, father Petronilo, step-father Gregorio Contreras;  Juan's  three sons; Juan, Alfonso and Quintino. A Vigil service with Rosary will be held Wednesday July 15, 2015 at 7 pm at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 216 2nd Avenue east, Jerome.  Afterwards he will go home and spend one final night with his family.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am , Thursday July 16, 2015 , also at St. Jerome Catholic Church. He will be laid to rest in the Jerome Cemetery. His funeral is sponsored by his Godparents,  Jose and Caritina Venegas.  Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.
