Kenneth “Lynn” Johnson, of Dietrich, ID, peacefully returned home to our Heavenly Father on September 26, 2022. He was born to Kenneth LaVell Johnson and Marie Margarette Hansen on December 1, 1937. He grew up on the family farm in Driggs, ID, where he learned how to work hard and became creative with the resources available. Lynn had many jobs throughout his life including farm hand, carpenter, cement mason, janitor, maintenance, bus driver, woodworker/cabinetry, grain bin assembler, and store owner.
Lynn had a fond love of the outdoors and nature. After purchasing a farm in Dietrich, he became a scoutmaster and loved teaching youth skills to be passed on for generations. He was always lending a helping hand to those in the community and active in his church callings. He served a mission with his wife in Blackwell, OK, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
In Lynn’s words, “The joys of my life are my lovely dear wife, our home and family, and the yard.” Lynn had a special bond with his grandson, Urban, whom he helped raise. Urban was helpful in taking care of his grandfather over past years and there will always be a special love between them. Lynn’s pride and joy was all of his family. He loved spending time with them.
He was a beloved member of the Dietrich community, most recently helping spearhead the construction of the Dietrich Cemetery. You could always find him helping others any way he could. His kind nature and infectious smile brought joy to all he met.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, LaVell, Terry and Carl; wife, Judith Ann Erikson; children, Cheryl Dains (Bob Dains), Randell Rosson; grandchildren, Rachel Hollibaugh, Olivia Johnson; and great-granddaughter, Tanessa Hollibaugh.
Lynn is survived by sister, Ann Custis; children, Crystal (Clair) Hollibaugh, Sherrie Johnson, Tina (Bart) Reed, Chuck (Kristy) Cantwell, Anna (Casey) McGehee, Colleen Rosson, David (Michelle) Johnson, and Kirsten (Brian) Rosa; 36 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren (one more on the way), and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, with a viewing beginning at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Dietrich, ID. Burial will follow at the Dietrich Cemetery.
