LaRae Haberman

May 22, 1928 — December 24, 2017

LaRae Gold Haberman, 89, of Jerome, Idaho went home and joined her loving husband for Christmas. She passed away peacefully at home December 24, 2017 surrounded by family. LaRae was born May 22, 1928 to Alfonso (Dick) and Eunice (Anderson) Gold in Wendell, Idaho along with her twin sister and best friend LaRue Gold Stockham. She grew up in Wendell and graduated from Wendell High School. She met Ardell Earl Robert Haberman, the love of her life, on a b lind date and were married on June 2, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS temple.

LaRae and Ardell settled in Jerome where they raised their four children, Bonnie Renee (Eldon) Lancaster, Connie (Dave) Ogden, Richard Earl (Brenda), and Kennith Ardell. Kennith, their youngest, was a quadriplegic from infancy and LaRae and Ardell lovingly cared for him for forty-two years until his passing. The three of them had a very special bond. LaRae was never away from him for longer than a few hours at a time.

Words are inadequate to describe LaRae’s beautiful spirit. She found true joy in doing things for others. She rarely sat still and was constantly taking meals and treats to those in need, visiting the sick and shut-ins, making daily trips to the local nursing home, and caring for neighbors, family, and friends. She always had  a kind and encouraging word and everyone was welcome at her table. She always saw the good in others and she loved taking care of everyone.

LaRae was a pure soul, full of love, kindness, compassion, and a need to serve. She was a life-long member of the LDS church and enjoyed serving the children in Primary and was a devoted visiting teacher. She loved music and would frequently break into song or hum as she worked.

LaRae possessed a radiant joy as a result of living a life of sacrifice, selfless service, love, and faith. She was a ray of light and sunshine to many and will be dearly missed. Indeed, “her children arise up and call her blessed.”

LaRae is preceded in death by her husband, son, parents, siblings, and son-in-law. She is survived by her children Renee, Connie, and Rick, twelve grandchildren, forty great grandchildren, and fifteen great-great grandchildren, including four sets of twins.

Special thanks to Brandi Lancaster, granddaughter, for all of her loving care she provided to her grandpa and as well as grandma.  Also, thanks to Encompass Hospice for their loving care.
