Nelvin Eggink

August 23, 1939 — August 28, 2014

Jerome- Nelvin Eggink, 75, of Jerome, passed away Thursday August 28, 2014, in Twin Falls.  He was born August 23, 1939, in Artesia, California, the son of Cornelius Eggink and Bertha Idema Eggink.  Nelvin was raised in Artesia and graduated from Valley Christian High School, where he met his sweetheart, Bernice Bekendam.  They were married in Bellflower, California on September 11, 1959.  Together they raised three children.  Nelvin spent most of his life in agriculture working as a dairy farmer and later as a livestock hauler.  He enjoyed fishing and tinkering with old things, especially restoring lawnmowers, boats and trucks.  He was also a fanatic for professional football.  He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed.

Nelvin is survived by his sweetheart of nearly 55 years, Bernice Eggink of Jerome; their children, Bryan Eggink and Bruce Eggink of Jerome, and Holly (Kyle) Dunning of Corvallis, Oregon; two grandsons, Brayden J. and Parker R. Dunning; and many extended family members and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Corinne, and his brother, Truman.

A memorial service celebrating Nelvin's life will be conducted at 3:30 PM, Friday September 12, 2014, at the Reformed Church of Twin Falls, 1631 Grandview Dr. North, Twin Falls, with Pastor Brian Vriesman officiating.

Nelvin's family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in his name at any US Bank branch.  Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.
