Ora Martha Vielguth

June 29, 1929 — June 23, 2023

JEROME

Ora Martha Allen Ruby Vielguth passed away on June 23, 2023, in Jerome, Idaho, just days before her 94th birthday. She was born on June 29, 1929, to parents Adath and John Elmer Allen in Atwater, California, and was the youngest of five children. Ora was wed to Harry Ruby at age 21 and they had two sons, Clifford and William “Bill”. Her marriage to Harry ended in 1975 and in 1978, Ora married the love of her life, Arthur “Art” Vielguth. When she lost Art to cancer in 1988, she chose not to remarry but instead took up volunteering and quilting, among other things.

Ora spent many years as a volunteer transporter for the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. She loved this role and took a great deal of pride in the impact she made with the children and families she transported for various appointments and court hearings.

Ora was a gifted and generous seamstress. She made countless blankets and quilts for her friends, family, and charitable organizations. Her handiwork won awards at local county fairs, and those who were recipients of her blankets and quilts will treasure her handiwork for years to come.

Ora was preceded in death by her parents, Adath and John; siblings, Hubert, Mabel, Carl, and Flossie; the father of her sons, Harry Ruby; sons, Clifford Ruby and Doug Vielguth; husband, Art; and several cousins; nieces; and nephews.

Ora is survived by son, William “Bill” Ruby; granddaughters, Nicole (Daniel) McCaughey and Melissa Ruby; daughter, Cheryl Vielguth (Dale) Siver; granddaughter, Stacey (Heath) Runyon; grandson, Douglas (Dory) Kulhanek; son, John (Jan) Vielguth; grandson, Jon Vielguth; granddaughter, Tammy Straps; as well as countless great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

Ora’s family would like to extend sincere gratitude and appreciation to Berdell Lesneski, Ora’s dear friend. It is our prayer that her selfless and loving efforts will be rewarded in this life and eternally.

The family would also like to send gratitude to Ora’s caregivers at Creekside Care Center in Jerome, Idaho. The compassionate care you provided for Ora in her winter season of life was seen and very much valued and appreciated.

Lastly, the family would like to thank Farnsworth Mortuary for the honorable care they have provided in handling Ora’s final arrangements.

Ora's final resting place will be at the Winton, California cemetery with her son, Clifford, and several other family members. The family has chosen to forgo holding a public memorial service. They will gather privately at a later date to pay respects and honor Ora’s life and legacy.

If you wish to send condolences to Ora’s family, please contact Bill Ruby, Ora’s son, by contacting Farnsworth Mortuary. He would like to get in touch with as many family members as possible for the private gathering.
