Patricia Louise & Dexter Clayton Jones

d. 2026

JEROME

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Louise Jones and her husband, Dexter Clayton Jones, married 39 years. Patricia and Dexter were residents of Jerome, Idaho, and passed away on May 2 and May 3, 2026, respectively.

Dexter was born in Long Beach, California, to Theodore and Grace Jones. He lived in Marblehead and Riverdale, Massachusetts before moving with his family to Napa, California. After graduating from high school, he attended San Francisco State University. It was there in San Francisco that he met his first wife, Ann Marie Devlin. After college, Dexter enlisted in the Army and ended up stationed in Oahu, Hawaii. Dexter and Ann enjoyed living on Oahu. They moved back to the Bay Area and over time had six children. Dexter was known for his donut-making. He worked at different donut shops in the Bay Area, including Tracy’s Donuts in Haight Ashbury, San Francisco, and Chicks Donuts in Concord, California. He would eventually open his own shop, Dexter’s Donuts in Concord. In 1974, Dexter and Ann divorced.

Patricia (Pat) was born in San Leandro, California, to Charles and Dorothy Cabral. Pat married Alfred J. Caputa in California and was later divorced. During her marriage, Pat had two children, Alfred and Anthony. Pat worked two jobs to support her family; she worked at Claridge Products and Equipment in San Leandro in the morning, and waitressed at IHOP during the evening. Pat also worked for the Underground Equipment Company. Pat’s hobbies included gardening, cooking, and for a time, belly dancing lessons. She would become a Jazzercize Instructor.

Dexter met Pat in San Leandro, California, and they married on February 14, 1987. Dexter and Pat decided to move to Reno, Nevada, where they worked for the Nugget Casino.

In time, Dexter and Pat moved to and settled in Jerome, Idaho. It was here in Jerome that they bought a small trailer house with a large backyard full of fruit trees. They planted a vegetable garden and learned to can food. They took a trip to Oregon and Washington, as well as the East Coast. They visited families in California and Idaho. After their travels, they became employed at Cactus Pete’s, in Jackpot, Nevada. When Pat retired, Dexter went on to work at Sherwin Williams; he then worked for the Jerome School District, then Walmart as a custodian. When Dexter retired at 80, they took trips to Jackpot, Reno, and Las Vegas to try their luck at Keno.

Dexter was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia. Patricia was preceded in death by her son Alfred Caputa.

Dexter and Pat are survived by their large two-family blend of children: Dexter Clayton Jones Jr., Paula (Jim) Rietzel, Susan Jones, Moira (Tim) Solle, Anita Jones, Carrie Jones, and Anthony Caputa. In addition, they are survived by seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
