Robert Leroy Hendriks, 79, of Jerome, Idaho, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026. Born on December 14, 1946, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Kenneth and Betty Hendriks, Robert lived a life defined by service, love, and laughter.

Robert was raised in Twin Falls County, Idaho, with his siblings Ray, Stella, Diane, Bev, and Cheryl. He married his wife Judy in 1968. Together, they raised their five children, LeeAnn, Tony, Michael, Lisa, and Tonia.

Robert’s dedication to his country began in 1964 when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served with honor during the Vietnam War, completing two and a half tours. Following his time in the Marines, Robert continued his military career by joining the 116th Armored Cavalry of the Idaho National Guard in 1968. Robert spent many years taking part in the Three Island Crossing in Glenns Ferry as part of the Calvary. Over the course of 36 years of selfless service to his country, Robert exemplified commitment and courage before retiring from the National Guard in 2000.

In addition to his military service, Robert also served his community as a police officer in Hazelton, Idaho. His sense of duty extended beyond his professional life and was evident in every aspect of how he lived.

Robert was known for his sense of humor and fierce loyalty to those he loved. He cherished time spent fishing and camping with family and friends and took great joy in hosting gatherings at his home alongside his beloved wife Judy. Together, they created a warm and welcoming space where everyone felt at home. Whether it was preparing an extra plate of food for unexpected guests or sharing stories that brought laughter to all who listened, Robert had a unique way of making people feel valued and cared for.

Family was at the heart of Robert’s life. He is survived by his children LeeAnn (Jerry), Tony (Berta), Lisa (Steve), and Tonia (Troy); his brother Ray; sisters, Diane, Bev (Bill), and Cheryl (Mike); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many beloved friends. He also leaves behind his cherished dogs Rosie and Skippy. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Betty; sister Stella; son Michael; and his devoted wife Judy.

Those who knew Robert will forever remember him for the joy he brought into their lives the laughter he inspired, the meals he shared, and the unwavering pride he took in being a father and grandfather. His family will hold dear the countless memories they created together during fishing trips, camping adventures, and family gatherings filled with laughter.

May Robert’s memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of service, kindness, and humor will live on through those who carry forward the lessons he imparted during a life well-lived.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 29, 2026, at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 S Lincoln Ave, Jerome. Burial will conclude at the Jerome Cemetery.

The family would like to invite all who would like to come and share a meal and their memories of Robert to join them after the graveside service at the Jerome Elks Lodge on Highway 93.
