Robert "Bob" Haslam

Robert "Bob" William Haslam, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Tuesday evening, February 14, 2017.

Robert was born February 26, 1931 in Trenton, Utah to William Riggs and Mary Jeanette (Miller) Haslam. He was the second of three born to the family. He grew up in Trenton until the family moved to Jerome in 1947. They came to Jerome to own and run the ice cream and sandwich shop, Bill & Ron's, with Mary's cousin, Ron Hutchison.

While in high school Bob played basketball and football. There he met the love of his life, Shirley Brehm. They graduated from Jerome High School in 1949. On February 10, 1951 Bob and Shirley married in Jerome. Their marriage was later solemnized at the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

Bob worked for Murray O'Rourke and Albert Lickley farming, Idaho Gem Creamery starting in 1960 in the powder room, then route driver, route supervisor and finally to credit manager when the plant closed in 1977. He then ran a successful heating and air conditioning business, Job Rite Heating. He was doing both his own business and working in the maintenance department for the Jerome School District until  his retirement.

Bob and Shirley loved camping with their girls and then later with their grandchildren at their favorite "No See Um Creek", as well as family trips to Yellowstone, Canada, and California. Then when it was just the two of them they would go to Yellowstone, North Dakota, and even Disneyland with Bob's sister, Melva, and her husband, Steve.

Bob and Shirley were members of the Buttons and Bows square dancers for over 10 years. He was also an active member of the LDS church where he served in numerous callings.

Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley; his daughters, Sheree (Curtis) Welch of Jerome, ID; and Michelle Haslam of Boise, ID; grandchildren Kimberlee Gil, Brad Kolsen, and Jordan Kolsen of Jerome, ID; Heather (Ryan) Howe of Twin Falls, ID; Angelina Larsen of Rogers, AR; Jared Larsen of Bellevue, ID; Steve (Becky) Larsen of Boise, ID; and Savannah Welch of Buhl, ID;  great grandchildren, Cambree, Teagan, Devin, Sophia, Caedus, Sylas, Keo, Briseis, Kole, Vanessa, Audrey and Preston; his brother, Howard Haslam of Ronan, MT; sister and brother-in-law, Gary and Diana Walker of Meridian, ID; brother-in-law, Donald Brehm of Calimesa, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Melva; his brother-in-law, Steve Hanning; his sister-in-law, Lolly Brehm; and nephews, Tim Hanning and Shane Walker.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 S Lincoln Ave, Jerome. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 24, 2017 at Farnsworth Mortuary with grave dedication concluding at Jerome Cemetery.
