Rodney Lyle Lattin

July 30, 1939 — June 10, 2025

Jerome

Rodney Lyle Lattin, of Jerome, Idaho, passed away in Boise, Idaho, on the 10th of June 2025 with his kids by his side.

Rodney was born on July 30th, 1939, to Lyle and Helen Lattin. He was the oldest of five children. He was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, and spent much of his early life fishing, hunting, and raising his own family here in the Magic Valley.

Rodney attended Twin Falls High School, where he made many friends. After high school and before starting a family, Rodney served his country in the United States Navy. One of those friends he met in high school was a young lady named Glenda Vetsch. Rodney would date and then marry Glenda on the 5th of January 1963. Rodney and Glenda would raise two children, Kent Lattin and Traci Cambell. Rodney and Glenda spent 31 years together, overcoming hardship and building a life together. On June 25th, 1994, the love of Rodney’s life was taken from him. After 31 years apart, Rodney and Glenda are finally reunited.

Rodney loved to fish. He knew where the best sturgeon holes were and would take anyone who wanted to go. He could spend hours just waiting for a fish to bite. He would often enlist grandchildren, nieces, and nephews to hunt for nightcrawlers to use as bait. Rodney was no stranger to hard work. He ran a successful mobile butchering business for most of his working life. After retirement, though, his next full-time “job” was fishing. Rodney won the Idaho Power trout lottery once and bought a boat to fish more.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Hellen and Lyle; his brothers, Terry and Lonny; and two daughters, Angela, on February 19th, 1964, and Cherlyn on April 1st, 1970. He was also preceded in death by his third wife, Blanch Rose Weech.

Rodney is survived by his brother, Mark Lattin; sister, Sue Graf; son, Kenneth Lattin; and daughter, Traci (Jon) Campbell. He is also survived by his grandsons, Justin, Zach, Jordan Lattin, and Jon Kent Campbell. Rodney is also survived by several step-children and step-grandchildren.

Grandpa was not a big fan of church meetings and requested that we not have a funeral service. Instead of that, the family will plan a celebration of life at a future date. Until then, celebrate him by going fishing.

Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on Rodney's memorial webpage at www.farnsworthmortuary.com.
