Sharon Johnson

July 2, 1942 — January 4, 2017

Sharon Ann (Kendrick) Johnson, 74, of Hazelton, Idaho was called home to the Lord in the early hours of January 4, 2017 due to a heart attack and complications from pulmonary fibrosis. She had been suffering from long-term illness for the past several years. Her suffering has ended and she is now in the hands of the Lord.

Sharon was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister to all of her family. She was a devoted and tireless worker; always there for her family. Although not particularly religious, she had a very strong faith in the Lord and in The Virgin Mary whom she often called upon during her life.

Sharon was born in Santa Barbara, California, July 2, 1942; she was a war baby. During WWII, she lived in various places in California and also lived for a short time in Georgia and South Carolina while her father trained as a bomber pilot. After the war, she lived in Carpentaria and West Covina, California and graduated from Covina High School in 1960. On May 12, 1962, she married Jeffre Darrell Johnson. Shortly after, she and the Johnson family made a major decision to leave California to start a family and begin a new life in Idaho. That new life took some adjusting for her to get used to, but she was tough and determined and made a good life for all of us. She was a resident of Hazelton from 1962 till her passing.

Sharon enjoyed gardening, camping, bowling, and was a fantastic cook who could make a great meal out of practically anything. Many summer days were spent with family swimming and water skiing at Wilson Lake. Mom taught all of us kids many valuable things about life. She will be terribly missed.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Jeff Johnson of Hazelton, ID; her children: Scott, Kimberly, ID; Brett, Cape May Court House, NJ; Ryan (Rowena), Orofino, ID; and Suzy (Eric) Cummins, Murphy, ID. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; her sister, Jan (Rich) Anderson, Woodland, CA; her brother, Wally (Shana) Kendrick, Twin Falls, ID; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walt and Ruth Kendrick; daughter-in-law, Laura Johnson; and 3 nephews.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017, 11:00AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1602 Lutheran Road, Eden, Idaho 83325 with viewing one hour prior to service. Graveside service will follow at Hazelton Cemetery.
