Sophia Freeman

Heyburn- Sophia Hanora Doramus Freeman, age 95,  went home to the loving arms of the Lord on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. She had a close personal relationship with God and walked in life as close to Jesus as any.  She was truly an angel among us.  She died in her sleep, in her home, and warm in her own bed surrounded by her loved ones. Sophia was  born to Chauncy Thomas Doramus and Jesse McMullin Doramus on January 2, 1919, in Perth, Kansas.  She Married Lonnie Grant Freeman on Oct. 10, 1937, in Buhl, ID. They moved to Yuma, AZ for two years and then returned to Idaho.  Sophia and Lonnie farmed and had a small dairy herd in the Wendell area for 16 years. They moved to the mini-cassia area in 1961. Sophia and Lonnie raised  two daughters in that area. She was the head cook in the school lunch program for Minidoka County schools for 27 years until her retirement. She cared for Lonnie, who suffered from Alzheimer's, after her retirement.  He passed away in 1993. She is survived by her daughters;  Joyce Freeman of Heyburn, and Twyla Cameron of Rupert;  her grandchildren; Lonna Worthington of Heyburn, Jacob(Verena) Roberts of Denver, CO, Tifney (Daniel) Madalena of Mountain City, NV, and Dylan Roberts of Pocatello, ID. She had six great-grandchildren;  Alannah(Jason) Griswold, Chance Worthington, Morgen, Logen and twins Danielle and Wyatt Madalena.

Sophia was preceded in death by her parents, her four brothers, a sister, and her husband of 56 years.  The funeral will be held at 11am, Monday, Nov. 24, 2014 , at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 S. Lincoln,  Jerome, ID.  Interment will follow in the Wendell Cemetery. Sophia's family would like to thank everyone at Highland Estates for all the love and care, and to Anna from Abigail's home care, thank you for being so good to our Angel, our mother and grandmother, Sophia.
