Stephan Edward Nance, a dedicated educator and valued community member, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, in Jerome, Idaho. Born on April 18, 1949, in Urbana, Ohio, Stephan's lifetime was marked by a commitment to education, service, and a deep appreciation for his diverse interests and passions.

Stephan’s academic journey began at John F. Kennedy High School and continued at the University of Idaho, where he cultivated the knowledge and skills that would shape his impactful career. His service in the Air Force further exemplified his dedication to his country and community. Following his military service, Stephan devoted himself to education, serving as a teacher in the Bliss School District and later as an administrator and FFA Advisor in Jerome School District. His leadership and dedication to students and colleagues alike left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege to work with him.

Beyond his professional life, Stephan pursued a rich variety of hobbies and interests. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and enjoyed gold panning—a passion that aligned with one of his proudest accomplishments: being an esteemed member of the Gold Prospectors Organization of America. Stephan also enjoyed strategic games such as cribbage and chess, as well as engaging with the immersive worlds of computer games. An enthusiastic reader, he had a particular fondness for the works of Stephen King. Additionally, Stephan collected coins, a hobby that reflected his meticulous and thoughtful nature.

Stephan’s personal life was marked by a steadfast partnership with his beloved wife, Marsha Ann Nance, whom he married on September 9, 1970, in California. Together, they raised a family that remains a central part of his legacy. Stephan is survived by his son, James Nance, and daughter, Cheryl Nance-Dotson, whose lives he profoundly influenced with his love and guidance.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Twyman; father, Ernest Nance; stepfather, Bob Twyman; and half-brother, David Nance.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Stephan Edward Nance’s life will be held on April 24, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Farnsworth Mortuary, located at 1343 S Lincoln Ave, Jerome, Idaho. Friends, family, colleagues, and community members are invited to gather in remembrance of a man whose contributions and character enriched the lives of so many.

Stephan Edward Nance’s life was one of service, learning, and passionate pursuit of his interests. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication to education, an enduring love for his family, and a spirit enriched by a lifelong quest for knowledge and connection. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
