SHOSHONE

Susan “Sue” Lynn Parkhurst Nance, 71, was born December 7, 1954, in Jerome, Idaho to Robert and Betty Parkhurst.

Sue grew up in Shoshone, Idaho with her five siblings and developed a lifelong love of animals and the outdoors. She enjoyed horses, gardening, fishing, swimming, and exploring. Sue graduated from Shoshone High School in 1973, where she participated in many activities and especially enjoyed being on the bowling team. She later attended the College of Southern Idaho nursing program.

In 1978, Sue married Jerry Nance and moved to a ranch near Dietrich, Idaho. She loved ranch life, livestock, and the wide-open spaces. She was the proud mother of Joseph “Joe” Nance and Samantha “Sam” Grace Nance Harris, and stepmother to Heidi Nance Fiala. Sue and Jerry later divorced.

Sue spent much of her career in landscaping, primarily with Webb Landscaping in Bellevue. Her specialty was installing sprinkler systems and planting flower and vegetable gardens for her clients.

After retiring in 2015, Sue returned to Shoshone and spent her days doing what she loved most, exploring the desert, fishing, camping, and searching for old bottles, arrowheads, and pieces of local history.

She is survived by her son, Joe (Danelle) Nance, and grandson, Lester, of Dietrich and Salmon, Idaho; daughter, Samantha (Coel) Harris, and grandsons, Gabriel Lindquist and Raziel Harris, of Kimberly, Idaho; stepdaughter, Heidi Fiala of Twin Falls, Idaho; siblings, Roland (Linda) Parkhurst of Buhl, Idaho; Robet (Mary Ann) Parkhurst of Princeton, Idaho; Connie (Dean) Taylor of Shoshone, Idaho; and Mary (Rod) Rosen of Hagerman, Idaho; along with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Betty Parkhurst; brother, Dan Parkhurst; nephews, Phillip Willingham and Robbie Parkhurst; and her loyal companion, Smoky, her dog.

Sue lived free, was wild at heart, had a great soul and loved deeply. She taught her children to live life, take adventures, give love, take chances, and always be themselves.
