NAMPA

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Thomas Ellsworth Ashley on May 26, 2026. Born on September 17, 1945, in Redlands, California, Tom left this world peacefully at his home, surrounded by the unwavering love of his family.

Tom was the cherished son of the late Jess Theodore Hulit and Patricia Ann Lapham. He was preceded in death by both of his beloved parents and his sister, Maryann Miller.

He was married to Kathryn Ashley. Together, they raised three wonderful sons: Daniel (Hannah), Kevin (Brandy), and Mark (Sharae). Tom's legacy of love extends to his nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and pride into his life.

A proud alumnus of California State University, Sacramento, Tom earned a degree in Business, which laid the foundation for a fruitful career. In 1966, he answered the call of duty and joined the U.S. Air Force, serving with honor for four years, including a tour in Vietnam. His service to his country was a testament to his courage and dedication.

Tom spent thirty years in early computer operations, accounting, and management with a large dairy company in Sacramento, where he was respected and admired by colleagues and peers alike. Upon retiring, he relocated to Idaho, where he discovered a new calling working for a decade at the Idaho State School and Hospital, a role that brought him genuine fulfillment.

Tom's life was a tapestry woven with service and community involvement. He was an active member of the IOOF and Rebekah lodges, serving as Grand Master twice, in 2004/2005 and again in 2015/2016. His commitment to his community was further demonstrated through his roles with the Nampa Senior Center, where he served diligently as a board member and president.

Known for his warm heart and generous spirit, Tom was a friend to all who crossed his path. He was quick to offer a helping hand, whether by driving a friend to a doctor's appointment or giving his time to uplift his community. His ability to bring peace to any situation and his unwavering belief in the goodness of others were traits that endeared him to all.

Tom's favorite moments were those spent surrounded by his family and friends, sharing laughter and creating memories. His love for his family was the cornerstone of his life, and his legacy will endure in the hearts of those who knew him.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the IOOF Lodge, located at 204 12th Ave South, Nampa, Idaho.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all who enriched Tom's life with friendship and love. A special expression of gratitude is offered to the team at Harrison Hope Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.

Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
