Vayle Bon Mauldin

February 25, 1961 — January 17, 2024

TWIN FALLS

Vayle Bon Mauldin, 62, passed away on January 17, 2024, after bravely battling several long-term health issues, including cancer. He was born February 25, 1961, and reared in Twin Falls, Idaho.

In his youth, Vayle excelled both scholastically and athletically. He was skilled in basketball, baseball and pole vaulting. He enjoyed tossing a football with friends and dancing in his family's dance studio. With a combination of his welcoming disposition and outgoing personality, Vayle was elected class president in high school. Friends account that no matter how much time had elapsed between encounters, it was as if no time had passed at all. There are countless stories told about how Vayle helped better people’s lives, and anyone with a story like that holds it dear.

Despite a challenging adolescence, Vayle changed the trajectory of his life and enlisted in the Army where he attained a sharpshooter’s badge. He had a tragic accident that led to his discharge and the loss of his left arm. After his military service, he returned home and met Rose; they married on February 10, 1990. Both highly intelligent, they helped each other through college. Vayle graduated with a master's degree in social work from Walla Walla College in Washington.

Returning to Twin Falls, they started a family together and he began his career as a mental health therapist. His passion for helping others showed during his time as a social worker. Through his Changes Counseling practice, he touched countless lives throughout the community.

Vayle was a true patriot. He loved God, his family, and his country, in that order. His hobbies included camping, riding motorcycles, pawn shopping and collecting watches. He cared for many animals, having a particular affinity for fish. Vayle loved to watch television and film- a hobby he passed on to his children, along with his great love of music. Although his life and his body had changed, he still enjoyed watching sports with family - go Green Bay Packers and LA Lakers!

Fiercely independent and always one to “stick to his guns,” Vayle persevered through many personal health struggles throughout his lifetime. After over 30 years of marriage and parenthood, through all his challenges, he never gave up!

Vayle is survived by his wife, Rose of 33 years; his three children, Sean, Alyssa, and Jonah; siblings, Kelli (Mick) Turner, Shari, and David Mauldin; and countless loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bon and Donna Mauldin.

It is a great comfort to know that he is no longer in any pain; he is at peace.
