Viola Standlee,87, of Jerome died Friday, October 1, 2021, surrounded by her children. She was born May 14, 1934 to Ludwig and Martha Meyer, in Twin Falls. She helped her mom raise her 14 brothers and sisters.
On September 2, 1952, she married the love of her life and soulmate, Donald Standlee. They were together 57 years.
Viola was a mom through and through. She was always there for her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. She was a second mom to all her kids’ friends, and a second grandma to all her grandkids’ friends.
Her second love was BINGO. Wherever there was a game she was there. She enjoyed socializing with her many friends there. It had to be a major event for her to miss bingo.
She is survived by her two daughters: Diana (Mitch) Barnes, Jerome; and Peggy Standlee, Twin Falls; six sons: Mark (Chris) Standlee, Wendell; Ray (Tina) Standlee, Jerome; Scott (Joann) Standlee, Meridian, ID; Guy (Angie) Standlee, Filer; Tracy Standlee, Jerome; and Jeff Standlee, Virginia. She has 20 grandkids and 22 great grandkids; two sisters: Shirley (Dan) Thrall, Battle Mountain, NV; and Darlene Kulhanek, Twin Falls; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; son, Randy; one grandson, Erick; parents; and 12 of her siblings.
Memorial donations may be made to the Jerome Senior Center in her name.
We are having an Open House at Viola's home on October 16, from 10 AM till no more visitors arrive.
We especially would like to thank Encompass Health Hospice, but especially mom's nurse Laura. She was amazing.
