Virgil Neil Archibald

December 29, 1946 — November 27, 2023

BUHL

Virgil Neil Archibald, 76, of Buhl, Idaho passed away November 27, 2023, in Boise, Idaho. He was born the fourth of eleven children on December 29, 1946, in Preston, Idaho to Virgil Murray Archibald and Marzella Bingham Archibald Nelson. He was raised in Dayton, Idaho and graduated from West Side High School.

After graduation, he served in the US Air Force as a carpenter for four years. Spending 11 months and 25 days in Vietnam. After getting out of the military in Washington state he asked for any job he could get. He got a job planting trees, planting as many as three thousand per day. From there he started thinning trees and moved on to logging before moving to Alaska for 10 years.

He moved back to Idaho and went to work for Tomcats Diesel Repair where met his loving wife, Kathleen Kennison, in Caldwell, Idaho. They married March 18, 1995 in Winnemucca, Nevada. They moved to Dayton, Idaho where he worked for Beutler Farms and lived there for 17 years before moving to Buhl, Idaho in 2013. He officially "retired" but then went to work at Donley Farms in Shoshone, Idaho for the last 9 years.

Virgil was a jack of all trades. Working as a logger, carpenter, brick hauler, fisherman, and finding his passion as a diesel mechanic. Virgil was never one to sit still. He was always ready to help with any job. He could be found tinkering in his shop when his grandchildren weren’t dragging him around on their next adventure.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; four children, Steven Kennison, Kevin (Sherry) Cordier, Amanda Hutchinson and Marzella (Kenny) Pamparau; nine grandchildren, David Kennison, Samantha Molt, Jacob Kennison, Chase and Tori Hutchinson, Bella Kennison, and Raelynn, Emma, and Grayson Pamparau; five great grandchildren, Savannah, Owen, Sydney, Adalyn, & Khyler; sisters, Joan Linde, Annett Halford, Jane Burnham, Janet Seeley, and Coleen (Bob) Bartlett; brother; Paul Archibald; as well as Kathy's siblings, Lonetta Breshears, Jim (Tonette) Kennison, Al (Connie) Kennison, Gary (Val) Kennison, Cammie Garner, Doug (Cindy) Kennison, and Karen Kennison.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister, Alaine Hart; brother, Vern Archibald; sister, Laura Jean Archibald; brother, John Archibald; in-laws, Dave and Zella Kennison; brothers-in-law, Tom Breshears, Dick Kennison, Pat Garner, Keith Kennison, Gary Burnham, and Bill Halford, and an infant son.
