Wayne Ardel McFadden, 84, passed away March 10, 2026, in Twin Falls, Idaho. Wayne was born August 17, 1942, in Nampa, Idaho, to Royal and Mildred Messer McFadden. He was the oldest of seven sons; Calvin (deceased), Bob, David, Irvin, Mervin and Randy.
Growing up on the dairy farm he learned how to wake up early, work hard and solve problems. He could hardly wait “to get away from those damn cows.” With so many brothers around he became quite a prankster and was always teasing and establishing his dominance. Whether at home, in the arena, on the track or in the workplace, he wasn’t ever about to be outdone, outplayed, outworked or outpranked.
Wayne graduated from Nampa High School and went on to live a life marked by hard work, adventure, and devotion to his family and friends. He was always willing to help the aspiring bull rider, give advice about better ways to train horses or tell a story about a wreck he got in or terrible job he had to do.
Over the years he worked in many fields, including as a professional bull rider, racehorse owner and trainer, toy store manager, and salesman in shoes, hardware, candy, and copy machines. The relationships he made at everything he tried seemed to last through his life. From 1990 until his retirement in 2002 he served as a brand inspector with the Idaho State Brand Department, a division of the Idaho State Police. This was where some of his greatest friendships were made-friendships that were important to him until his passing.
On March 10, 1966, Wayne married the love of his life, Diana Louise Lindsay. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 13, 1980. Wayne was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Louise preceded him in death on November 9, 2023.
He is survived by their children Brent (Caroline), Brandi Fries (Pat), Brian (Kristi), and Lance (VeAnn). He was preceded in death by his son, Shawn. Wayne was a proud grandfather to Carson (Kalley), Cole (Brittany), Autumn, Clay, Cash, Wyatt (deceased), Morgan, Cooper, Camas, Madison, Adelaide, Allyson, Tucker, and Blaze. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren.
Wayne will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for the western way of life, and his devotion to his family. His presence, stories, and steady example will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Wayne’s family wishes to express profound appreciation to the staff and nurses at The Canyons Assisted Living for their attentive care and friendship.
He will be honored at a graveside service at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 27, 2026 at the Jerome Cemetery, Jerome, Idaho.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on Wayne's memorial webpage at www.farnsworthmortuary.com.
