William Francis Gulley

February 4, 1942 — September 27, 2023

JEROME

Bill Gulley, 81, of Jerome, passed away in his home surrounded by family on September 27, 2023.  He was born February 4, 1942, in Twin Falls, Idaho.  He was the son of Robert William and Bertha Elizabeth (Newman) Gulley.

Bill graduated from Jerome High School, Class of 1960.  Following graduation, he served in the Army and the Army National Guard of Idaho until 1965 during which time he married Judy Lynn Halverson in 1963.  In 1966, he and Judy started their family and bought a farm next to his family's farm in northwest Jerome.  After his retirement in 2012, Bill and Judy enjoyed traveling and wintered in St. George, Utah, and then later in Desert Springs, Fort Mojave Indian Reservation in Nevada.  In the summertime, they enjoyed the cool and clean mountain air at their home in Lower Stanley, Idaho.

Bill and his alter ego, the “Great 1”, were notoriously well-known all around the Magic Valley for his ability to entertain for hours with his extensive catalog of jokes.  His grandchildren loved hearing his jokes even though some were not appropriate.  He had a great love of history, photography, fishing, golfing, and horse & motorcycle trail riding with his family throughout the Sawtooth and White Cloud mountains.  He had a special fondness for his grandfather’s sheep ranch in the O'Neil Basin of northern Nevada where he spent summers in his youth.  Bill and Judy just celebrated 60 years of marriage in August.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Vance William Gulley; and his brother, Richard Gulley.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Lynn (Halverson) Gulley; his daughters, Shawna (Dan) Dally, Gina (Rick) Adkins, and Kristen (Mike) Rockford; 5 grandchildren, Jeneca Sabala, Nichole Dally, Justen Dally, Samantha Rockford, and Taylor Rockford; and 5 great-grandchildren, Jaden, Axton, Lea, Maverick, and Maicee.

The family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to Ginger and the staff at Visions Home Health and Hospice.

A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 S Lincoln Ave, Jerome. Burial will conclude at the Jerome Cemetery, followed by a reception at El Sombrero, 143 W Main St, Jerome.
