Wynona Maxine Fife

October 10, 1931 — April 12, 2024

JEROME

Wynona “Nona” Fife was born in Howard, Kansas, on October 10, 1931. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 12, 2024, and will be greatly missed. Nona is survived by 2 children, Scott D. Fife and Janie S. Myers, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, her sister, Muffet “Sherrie” Jones, and a loving extended family.

Nona was one of five siblings who moved to Idaho on Thanksgiving Day in 1942. She graduated from Buhl High School in 1949, and then attended the beauty college in Twin Falls. Nona was a successful and talented beautician for many years. She took great pride in her appearance, enjoying bi-weekly trips to her hair salon. She adored cosmetics, fashion, and home decor her whole life. Nona was well known in the Jerome community and made many friends through her work and interests.

Nona met the man who would become her husband and life-long partner, Clare Fife, through her oldest brother, Bill L. Jones. Nona and Clare were married in 1950 and together ran their family farm in Jerome, since Clare began farming there in 1947. Nona was fortunate to live on the farm until her passing. They raised two children, Janie and Scott, on the farm, and enjoyed many good times with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nona worked for many years at the offices of Producers Livestock in Jerome, as well as the Twin Falls Livestock Auction. Nona knew the farming and dairy community in southern Idaho well.

After retirement, she and Clare enjoyed traveling in their RV with family and friends and maintained an active social calendar. Nona held several offices at PEO through the years. She also played bridge several times a week and was an active member of the Jerome Senior Center.

Nona was preceded in death by her jewel of husband, Clare Fife; her two brothers, Bill and Rex Jones; and sister, Phyllis Critser. Our family is so thankful for the wonderful years we had with Nona, and grateful for the love she gave our family.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Luke’s Hospital for the excellent care she received and wonderful support they extended to our family.
