Misti King

August 5, 1971 — May 23, 2021

SHOSHONE

Misti was born August 25, 1971, at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital in Oakland, California to her parents, Steve and Debby (Swainston) King. Born a Navy brat, Misti had the opportunity to live in several places throughout her life, including Sicily, where the family’s landlord taught her how to speak Sicilian. The family moved to Virginia where she started school, but in 1977, when her dad left the Navy, they relocated to Idaho where she finished the rest of her education.

In 1991, Misti graduated from Shoshone High School. After graduation, Misti worked as a housekeeper in different hotels, including Sun Valley Company where she worked for 23 years. Misti eventually left housekeeping and most recently worked for Goodwill until her health demanded that she stop working.

The most important job to Misti was being a mom to her only son, Jason, who was born in 2003. Her greatest accomplishment and the light of her life. Her entire world revolved around him, and she couldn’t have been more proud of the person he is or the man he is growing to be.

Misti was a deeply kind soul and one of the most generous people to grace the earth. Although she didn’t have much, what she did have, she graciously shared with others. Misti always had a smile and kind words ready for everyone she encountered, and never met a stranger. Even as her health began to take a toll, Misti never lost her kindness or appreciation for others. She made sure that those who were helping her through the hard times knew how thankful she was. Misti was always making everyone feel appreciated and as though they belonged.

She is survived by her son, Jason King of Shoshone; her parents, Steve and Debby (Swainston) King of Shoshone; her sister, Stormi (Patrick) Shippy; four nephews; one niece; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
