Pamla "Pam" Burgoyne Dilworth

May 26, 1949 ~ March 1, 2022 (age 72)

Obituary

Pamla “Pam” Burgoyne Dilworth of Jerome, Idaho passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones on March 1, 2022 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Her vibrant spirit and joyful personality will be missed more than words can tell.

Born in Twin Falls, Idaho on May 26, 1949 to James Howard Burgoyne and Glenda Marie Ross. She was the youngest of four children: brothers, Ross and Gail, and her sister, Nedra. She learned to work at an early age on the family farm in Dietrich. She loved riding horses, bringing in the cows, feeding calves, snapping beans, and helping to hang the laundry.  She also learned to sew at an early age. It was a skill she loved and used throughout her life.

At age 17, she met her eternal companion, Reed Wallace Dilworth who was speaking (after returning from a mission to Brazil) at a church service in Dietrich, Idaho. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on February 3, 1967. She served with him at RAF Weathersfield, England and then at Davis Monthan Airforce Base in Tucson, Arizona. When returning to the states their young family grew quickly, where she raised her treasured family of five boys and two girls.

She enjoyed caring for her family and serving in her community. She worked and cared for residents in the Shoshone Assisted Living. She also served many years as an EMT for Dietrich and later Jerome Medical Center. At the age of 45 she earned her associates degree of science from the College of Southern Idaho in 1994.  She began her career as an RN at North Canyon Medical Center and spent 17 years as an ER, charge, pre-op, and recovery nurse. As important as her career was her family was even more important, she spent most of her life’s work serving her family and her church.

She was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings throughout her life including working in the Temple and serving a mission with her companion, Reed in Cambodia (2013-14). One of her greatest accomplishments while there was teaching her love of piano to the youth of Cambodia.

She loved music especially playing the piano and enjoyed teaching many of her grandchildren. Her favorite hobbies included square dancing, sewing, piano, and camping. She was a very proud member of the Buttons and Bows Square Dancing Club. Along with these things she had a deep love for being in the mountains camping with her family, playing games, telling stories, and hiking the trails. On her downtime she loved reading in the sunshine, quilting, and embroidery.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, cherished sister, and adored grandma whose door was open to anybody and everybody and who always seemed to have a smile even on the darkest of days.  Her example and testimony of Jesus Christ shined brightly, and her quiet strength resonated with all.  Not only did Pam raise a wonderful posterity who loved her, but she touched the lives of people all over the world.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Glenda Burgoyne; sisters-in-law Linda, and Alma; and brother-in-law, Joe. She is survived by her husband. Reed Wallace Dilworth; siblings. Ross (Lynn) Burgoyne, Gail Burgoyne, and Nedra (Roy) Hubert; and children, Aaron (Denae) Dilworth, Monica (David) Cook, Nathan (Karyn) Dilworth, Ryan (Albe) Dilworth, Patrick (Tonya) Dilworth, Bruce (Laura) Dilworth, and Julie (Nick Meyer) Rosello; her 33 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and three more arriving within the year.

As a family we wish to express appreciation to the following health providers: Hospice Visions, PAN Foundation, Huntsman Cancer Foundation and St. Luke’s Cancer Foundation. We would also like thank everyone for all the love and support given.  We love and appreciate all of you!
